Because of the cancellation of the XIV (2020) edition following the Covid-19 pandemic the winner's composition could not be performed. For this reason, the 2022 edition of the Volterra Project composer award will not take place but will feature the winner of last edition
The Volterra Project composition award 2020:
We are very happy to announce the winner of the second Volterra Project Composition Award! This year, the American guitarist and composer Christian Cruz convinced the jury withSuite Homenajes, which in his own words, "was initially inspired by an obsession with J.S. Bach's 'Toccata for harpsichord', and is built up from direct quotes from pieces while and pastiches of the composers' musical aesthetics".
Dusan Bogdanovic, president of the jury, defined Suite Homenaje "an original, humorous maverick composition; it will both impress and make you smile."
A last word of praise goes to our other finalists: Second place :Carles Guisado Moreno (Spain) for his beautiful composition "Algazara y Nana" Third Place:Juan Gallino (Argentina) for his very promising work "DEBRUSHIF"
