Levente Vig
Levente Vig was born in Budapest (Hungary) and started studying the guitar at the age of 9.
His first important teacher was Eva Morvay at the Budapest Béla Bartok Secondary Music school between 1985 and 1987 and prepared him for International Villa-Lobos Guitar Competition in Esztergom (Hungary) in 1987. Eva Morvay advised him to continue his musical career with Joseph Eotvos, especially for baroque music understanding.
He completed and was fifth at the International Guitar Festival in Esztergom (Hungary)in 1987 as a remembrance of the 100th anniversary of Villa -Lobos's birth.He was given the maximum score by Roberto Aussel, professor at Conservatory Colon (Duitsland) and Valdimir Zaborsky, professor at Krakow's Conservatory (Poland).
Levente got his diploma in guitar teaching & master chamber music and graduated with great distinction at Ferenc Liszt Musical College in Pécs (Hungary) in 1995 under the supervision of Joseph Eotvos.
From that point until 2008 he improved his skills in playing and performing at the Royal Conservatories of Mons and Brussels ( Belgium).
He worked with Odair Assad for 3 years (particularly technical development in Music Latino) and 2 years with Sergio Assad (musicality, composition) between 1995 and 1998 at Royal Conservatory in Mons. In 1997 he won a scholarship from the prestigious hungarian-american ‘’Soros Fondation’’.
In 1999 he went on stage in Switzerland and participated at the Montreux Summer Musicfestival with hungarian musician Miklos Jutasi (Oboe). Their performance was based on folksongs from various countries.
2 years later in 2001 he was invited to be a member of a Quadriga Guitarquartet with Istvan Kozma, Tibor Torok, Miklos Mosoczi ( founder of quartet, prof.at Budapest Musichighschool ) www.phoinix.hu.They went on stage of hungarian musicfestivals and played from the works of G.Bizet,E.Grieg,F.Liszt.
His CD "The Brazilian Soul" was a recording of H.Villa-Lobos's selected pieces in 2004 and at the same time he gave concerts from Piazzolla works in Hungary, in Croatia with a great transylvanian violonist Aladàr Szentkiràlyi. In 2006 he played as solist and guitar duo with Melinda Toth in the Belgian Parliament and represented Hungary at the European Culture Week.
From 2005 until 2008 he did his master in classical music under the guidance of Antigoni Goni at Brussels Conservatory who is one of the most renouned teachers of XIX - XX century pieces interpretation. Levente got his master diploma in guitar at Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel in 2008.
He also followed masterclasses with Nicola Hall, David Russel, Roberto Aussel,
Ichiro Suzuki, Rafael Catala, Pavel Steidl,Tomas Muller Pering, Eduardo Isaac, Oscar Ghiglia ....etc
Levente formed a duo jazz-latino (guitar-percussion) in 2008 with a belgian musician Laurent Moens.
In 2009 he became teaching assistant of Antigoni Goni at Brussels Conservatory and he gave seminars at the same Conservatory in April 2010 and 2011 to prepare the students for admission to the Conservatories. He was also a jurymember in Flamish Musicacadémies in Vilvoorde and in Zottegem.
Currently he plays with spanish pianist Tomas Basavilbaso and he is going to preform as a solist for one of the most prestigious belgian Guitar Festivals (Caleidoscope concerts Rixensart) in Nov.2012.
His focus lies in chamber music and he has extensive experience in playing with violinists,cellists, guitarists, oboeists, flute players, percussionists and concerto pieces including pianists.The artist lives in Belgium and teaches at Lasne musicschool.He gives concerts in Belgium, Spain and France.
