XIX edition: 11-20 July 2025

It is with great pleasure, joy, and true pride that I invite young guitarists from around the world  to join us for ten days of intense work and creative learning in one of the most enchanting and inspiring settings of the world!

For the past 18 years, the Volterra Project progressed with conviction and determination following its original vision, proposing a different way of nurturing talents, promoting the development of artistic creativity and excellence. The 19th edition will be the last “teen” edition of the Volterra Project: it is very special milestone for us, and we would like to propose an exceptional formula to celebrate it.

Exceptionally, in 2025 we will not invite a guest artist. Instead, we decided to fully dedicate the edition to exposing the young generation of aspiring guitarists to the multitude of performing careers possible with the classical guitar. For doing this, we decided to bring to the limelight the emerging generation of professional guitarists and constitute a guitar faculty entirely made of Volterra Project alumnae and alumni.

In addition, we intend in this edition to show the flexibility and the multifaceted possibilities of the guitar profession that, contrariwise to the most standardize adage, is not only limited to a career as a soloist. We will instead focus on a variety of possibilities, ranging from chamber music, to arranging, to collaborations bridging over generations and cultures, to the exploration of different musical styles and periods, the appropriation of folk elements...

The Volterra Project will welcome 12 international students for ten days of intense work and creative learning in one of the most enchanting and inspiring settings of the world. During the ten days of the workshop, students and teachers alike will live together in a beautiful and serene rustic complex immersed in the Tuscan hills, in a relaxed and non-competitive environment, conducive to a real exchange of knowledge and experiences
