Duo Deseo

Picture
Ann Van Hecke, cello - Maarten Vandenbemden, guitar

The Belgian Duo Deseo was created in 2018, when cellist Ann Van Hecke and guitarist Maarten Vandenbemden reunited the deep sound of the cello and the sparkling character of the classical guitar.
With their own arrangements of well-known and lesser-known South American, Spanish and Catalan music, the duo has found a unique musical formula and is praised for the spontaneous and lively nature of their concerts.
DUO DESEO has performed throughout Belgium and the Netherlands, and is releasing its first studio recording, El Vuelo del Deseo, in 2025.
Ann Van Hecke, cello
Ann Van Hecke is a musical volcano with a cello. She has performed with orchestras as a soloist and as member of Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen and currently focusses on chamber music. She is professor of cello at De Kunsthumaniora Antwerpen and Kunstacademie Halle (Belgium).

Maarten Vandenbemden, guitar
Guitarist and arranger Maarten Vandenbemden is an assistant at the Volterra Project since 2016 and member of the Volterra Project Trio and Four Aces Guitar Quartet. He is professor of guitar at the Conservatory of Ghent (Belgium) and professor of Applied Harmony for guitarists at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
