Presentation of the 2010 Edition

Dear all, it is with great pleasure that I am announcing the 4th edition of the Volterra Project, Summer Guitar Institute. On July 10th we will meet again in the hills across from the medieval city of Volterra in Tuscany, Italy, for 8 more days of intense work and creative learning in one of the most enchanting and inspiring settings of the world!

This year, in addition to the exceptional group of people who will form this edition’s staff, the Volterra Project will enrich its usual schedule with a few lectures that I think will perfectly to our primary goal: to prepare our young participants for the real guitar world.

Our guest artist this year, one of Greece’s world acclaimed guitarists, Elena Papandreou, needs little introduction. I would only like to add a personal note saying that her participation marks a unique moment for me. Our friendship goes way back to my first years of guitar playing.

In addition to her concert and master classes for the VP, Elena and myself will join forces and present a lecture/ round table on a “red hot” guitar subject: “Competitions: before, during and after!”

Another exciting, and, I think, extraordinary, addition to our team this year is the German guitarist/physiologist Roland Fogel who, instead of the Alexander Technique sessions, will present a unique and innovative course balancing the mind-body system in function of guitar playing.

Last but not least, Dayle Bessler from Edmonton, Canada, whose supreme work with young children is to be marveled upon, has agreed to present as part of the business seminars, a lecture on how to create, sustain and survive a successful teaching studio.
