This XII edition will be the largest of the Volterra Project story: not only we will maintain the extended ten-days formula introduced last year, but we are also proud to announce that this year we will be able to accept up to 14 students. However, these two will only be formal changes. What will remain unchanged is our enthusiasm, our love for art and music, the curiosity, the imagination, the professionalism.
This year, two guest artists-the English guitarist Laura Snowden and the American guitarist Stephen Robinson-will join me in teaching the guitar master classes. Both Laura and Stephen are examples of the Volterra Project’s concept of artistic fullness, and will offer great insights on how a brilliant international career can develop outside the well-known and limiting ingredients of amassing competition victories, or on how we can avoid choosing between a soloist “total” career on the one side, and personal life on the other.
The courses of Music Physiology will be presented by the American actor, director, and teacher Gretchen Egolf, and by the Austrian-American Shiatsu practitioner, Qigong teacher and luthier Nicole Bachel . The course will bring the participants to discover one of the main components of their musicianship and art : their own body.
The seminars of Business of Music will be given by the experienced American business administrator Patrece Robinson. In her classes, Patrece will provide an overview of fundamental “career skills”, oriented both to the musician and to the music self-entrepreneur.
In addition, the British guitarist David Jaggs will present again his very successful workshops on “sound recording techniques” and his “Produce your own CD workshop”
Finally, this year we are delighted to bring to the Volterra Project Jose Pita Juarez, a very talented and expressive, young Mexican photographer who has attracted a lot of attention in the guitar world after the publication his expressive portrait of his photo of Antigoni Goni on the cover page of Classical Guitar Magazine.
Jose will be present on campus for the entire duration of the workshop and will provide full social media coverage. Also, upon request, he will take individual photo-shoot sessions finalized to the completion of a professional portfolio at special price, exclusively offered to the Volterra Project participants.
So... it is with great pleasure, joy, and true pride that I invite young guitarists from around the world to this twelth edition of the Volterra Project, Summer Guitar Institute. Join us for ten days of intense work and creative learning in one of the most enchanting and inspiring settings of the world.
