Italian Luthiers showcase

A guitarist without a guitar is nothing more than a singer without a voice. For an artist, to meet the man who built his instrument is almost as important as to meet the man who composed the music he is playing. Learning more about guitar making is an essential addition to a young artists formation, but to have the opportunity to find mutual inspiration between a luthier and a musician is a chance that few artists have in a lifetime.

It was with these thoughts in mind that two years ago the Volterra project started what, at the time, seemed to be just an experiment: some of the most prominent Italian luthiers were invited to a two-days long instrument showcase, discussion, and guitar tryouts!

The experiment was so successful that, almost by itself, turned into a tradition.The Volterra Project 2010 edition is, therefore, proud to present for the 3^rd consecutive time some of Italy’s best luthiers!

The format will be the usual one: unconventional and friendly!From Thursday, July 15^th to Saturday July 17^th the students of the workshop will have the chance not only to admire a display of guitars, or to briefly try them, but to stay at length around those beautiful instruments and their makers, maturing a better idea of what they are looking for, what fits them and what represents them the best.

The showcase will have an unusual, but, we think, very special conclusion: on July 17^th selected students will perform on their chosen instrument the closing concert of the workshop and both students and luthiers will have a chance to listen to their guitars in the beautiful and historic Palazzo dei Priori.
